Emma is Hedman Family Law’s Paralegal and Office Manager. She graduated summa cum laude from Whitworth University in May 2023 with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. Emma began as a Legal Assistant at Hedman Family Law in October 2023 and quickly found a passion for Family Law. Her background in math and her previous work as an educator equipped her with organization, creative problem-solving, and communication skills, which she uses often in the legal field. Emma approaches cases methodically and systematically as if solving a complex equation, ensuring success with her detail-oriented approach.
Emma is a Notary Public of Oregon and a member of the Oregon Paralegals Association, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, and the American Bar Association. She focuses on editing pleadings, organizing and indexing discovery, communicating with clients, and helps facilitate the timeline of cases through managing and delegating tasks. Emma volunteers with Bridging Cultures and Partners of America, which has provided invaluable exposure to different cultures and communities. This exposure allows her to approach work in Family Law with a well-rounded understanding and empathy for families' unique needs.
Emma values kindness and honesty above all else. She understands that clients are going through challenging times and approaches each situation with compassion while still communicating clearly and directly. Emma is often described as matter-of-fact and a straight shooter, which is emphasized in her approach to clients and her work. She is able to relay heavy information while still reminding clients that she is there to assist and support them. Emma finds meaning in advocating for clients' needs and supporting them through difficult times.
In her free time, Emma enjoys hiking and camping. She is also an avid soccer fan and can be found routing on the Portland Thorns and Timbers.
